Scholarship for Women
Scholarships for women are fairly common and are found through both federal and state education and financial support websites. Most of the scholarships for women may be included within minority groups as well, especially if women are historically underrepresented within the professional field. Typically these will include areas such as the sciences, mathematics, technology and engineering. In addition many professional women's associations and organizations offer their own scholarships as a way to give back into the profession and provided additional funds for younger women trying to obtain their degree.
Women's scholarships typically are based on merit, grade point average as well as financial need. Some scholarships also require that the student be actively involved in campus or community leadership, be involved or a member or candidate for membership or a particular professional group or association or be attending a specific college or university and in a particular program of study. Scholarships can include full time students, part time students and undergraduate through post-doctoral degree women. Women of minorities may also be highly qualified for many of the dual women and minority scholarships and grant opportunities.
