Weird Scholarships Online
Depending on what you consider to be "weird" there are several different scholarships that can easily be included in that category. On of the most unusual scholarships is offered by Juanita College in Pennsylvania and is exclusively for left handed students. The Mary F. Buckley Memorial Scholarship awards up to $1000 per year.
Some of the more unusual or even strange scholarships are funded by particular groups that are promoting a particular study or degree. Some of these weird scholarships are very small in value, however they often go without being applied for, making them a good option for picking up several smaller scholarships rather than one big one that everyone will be competing for. Of course even the weird scholarships have requirements so just make sure you fully understand what you may be committing or agreeing to when you accept the award. A tasty award is offered by the American Association of Candy Technologies and is for up to $5000, paid in two equal amounts of $2500 for a student that has demonstrated an interest in the technology of manufacturing candies. Students must be in the food science or a related science field and must be completing their education within North America.
For high school students that like to skateboard, the Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarships may be just the extra funding needed. This scholarship is given both to a winning skateboarder as well as 3 runners up. Students have to be active skateboarders, have at least a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in an accredited two or four year college program. Winners will receive $5000 and runners up each get $1000. Another odd and unusual athletic scholarship is the SAMMY Award which stands for Student Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award. High school seniors that are actively involved in school leadership, work within the community, excel at athletics and have a good GPA can apply for this scholarship. Up to 25 students will each be awarded $7,500 and will also get several other prizes and recognition on milk mustache advertisements.
Perhaps one of the most restrictive and least claimed scholarships is the Zolp Scholarship offered at Loyola University. To apply for this scholarship each student must be Catholic, attend Loyola University as a full time student and also have a birth certificate and confirmation certificate that indicates that the student's legal last name is Zolp.
Finding odd, unusual or weird scholarships can be entertaining, but it can also be well worth your effort. Spend some time browsing around on the internet and don't forget to check companies and organizations in your area that may offer scholarships that aren't that well known or that you may just have the unique credentials to qualify.
