Bachelor of Science in Animation from Westwood College

The Bachelor of Science in Animation program is designed to give students the skills needed in order to enter the field of animation with confidence and advanced knowledge. The animation field is expected to grow by more than 15% by 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. As a result, there is a high demand for well-educated animators. This program covers important topics such as the laws of human motion, physics, psychology as applied to 2D or 3D characters, life drawing and rendering techniques, and the application of both audio and video to an animation project. Students also take a combination of management and general education courses, which are designed to help them apply skills in general management, critical thinking, logic, communication, and advanced problem solving to challenges in the workplace. Students also will take important business courses that provide instruction concerning such topics as project management, determining client need, working within a team environment, and working within a deadline. Students in this program are prepared for entry-level positions as a graphic artist, assistant animator for Web-based or computer-based team projects, multimedia designer, graphic designer, production artist, and Web page designer for Web-based or computer-based team-oriented projects.
