The Bachelor of Science in Education/Elementary Teacher Education is a program designed to prepare candidates for teacher licensure. The goal of this program is to provide students with both the skills and knowledge that are needed in order to become competent and effective educators. This program has a focus on elementary student learning, and develops the skills of the student according to that focus. Student teaching is an essential part of the Teacher Education Program. Students are given field-based experience and will work with both a cooperating teacher and a faculty advisor. This student teaching experience is structured as such in order to emphasize the achievement of state standards, which leads to certifications, as well as help students grow through experience on their way to becoming certified teachers. A minimum of 100 hours of verified field experience is required for program completion.
