Master of Arts in Education with a Specialization in Teacher Education for Secondary Licensure from University of Phoenix Online

The Master of Arts in Education/Secondary Teacher Education program is aimed towards giving candidates the proper preparation for teacher licensure. The underlying philosophy of this degree program is geared towards giving the adult student, who already has a degree in a field other than education, the skills and knowledge that are necessary to have in order for that to become both a competent and effective educator. This program achieves its focus by emphasizing secondary student learning by improving the teacher's responsibility for that learning. As with many other degree programs, student teaching is an integral part of the learning process. Students must observe and learn from both a cooperating teacher, and a University of Phoenix faculty advisor on a school site. Students are required to complete verified field experiences that cover a wide variety of different levels of education. Student progress is tracked via a portfolio that is kept by the student.
