Surgical Technology from

The Surgical Technology program is structured to provide students with the skills and expertise needed to obtain entry-level positions in surgical technology. Students are taught how to work with and under the guidance of registered nurses or surgeons. Graduates will have successfully acquired the knowledge needed to be an essential part of any medical team. Graduates will be able to provide care to patients during important parts of surgery. Areas worked on during students' training are operating room set-up, preparing patients for surgery, the passing of surgical instruments and other supplies to surgeons, scrubbing and gowning, care and disposal of specimens, and assistance in both cleaning and stocking the operating room for other operations. This program requires 1620 total clock hours for completion.
