Online Programs in Physician Assistant
A physician assistant is a non licensed clinician who is able to operate and practice some forms of medicine, but only while under the strict supervision of a licensed physician. They are able to treat patients and are even able to prescribe medicine in most states. In many cases, a physician assistant serves as a helper to the doctor while they perform surgery. The assistant can also hand the doctor the tools he or she needs to perform an operation, clean up the operating area, and adjust the lighting so the doctor can see properly. A PA has a very important role in the world of health care. Many doctors use physician assistants to also help with other duties such as maintaining patients' files and making appointments. While some physician assistants are hired directly by hospitals, most are employed by nursing homes, private practices, clinics, and even schools and prisons.
