Graceland University

Graceland University was first established in 1895 and is a private, liberal arts university partially sponsored by the Church of Christ. The goals of the university, both in the on campus and online programs, are to foster an ongoing learning environment and to have students focus on wholeness and community as part of being a responsible global citizen. Diversity is highly valued at the university and courses are designed to allow experience, current work placements and prior expertise in the field to be used in completing assignments and graduating from the program.

There are two major campuses at Graceland University and they are located in Lamoni, Iowa and Independence, Missouri. In addition there are several satellite campuses throughout the two states that tend to focus on a particular area of study. The global campus is available to students from any computer with internet. The university is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission and is also a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Many of the education programs are accredited through the National Counsel for Accreditation of Teacher Education and all courses are accredited through the Iowa Department of Education. Nursing programs are likewise recognized by both the Missouri and Iowa Departments of Education and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Staff and faculty at Graceland University are selected for both their experience in the real world within their field of expertise as well as for their level of educational background. Both current and former teachers, administrators, nursing professionals and medical health specialists as well as researchers in both fields are typically found on the faculty. Programs of study online are taught by many of the same instructors that teach the traditional campus classes, ensuring that the same high level of instruction is provided to all students. Full degree courses including in the global campus program for online learning include the Master of Education, Master of Nursing, RN to BSN program, BA in Healthcare as well as an accelerated RN to Master of Science in Nursing program. Since faculty are professionals as well as instructors, students are encouraged to use their work experience and current job situations in assignments and projects to provide practical applications to the theory discussed in the program. Students will also communicate via email and message systems with other students in the class, making it a true classroom learning experience from the comfort of your own home or office.

Students completing online courses through the global campus program may be eligible for grants and loans just as traditional students may be. The university offers online financial advisors to assist with completing applications for grants and loans as well as to help assist with supplemental income through various student assistance programs. Students will also be able to talk one on one with instructors and counselors throughout their course of study either through phone conversations, emails or through chat programs during the instructor's virtual office hours. The easy to use format of the online site provides students with many general answers with a quick search through the website, plus it provides links to contact professionals to find specific answers.
