Savannah College of Art and Design

If you are artistic or enjoy visual presentations, performing arts or graphic design then Savannah College of Art and Design may be just the college you are looking for. Located in Georgia, Savannah College of Art and Design was first opened in 1977 and has provided both on campus and online classes for students from Georgia and across the United States. Once unique feature of Savannah College of Art and Design is that they do have a study abroad campus located in France as well as smaller campuses located in other areas of Georgia. The college is fully accredited through the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The National Architectural Accrediting Board also recognized the five year professional master's degree in architecture and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission recognizes the master in teaching program offered through Savannah College of Art and Design.

Savannah College of Art and Design offers a wide variety of courses completely online ranging from individual interest courses through to degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate and certificate level. Each online course is taught to the same exacting standards as the on campus course, however there is more flexibility for students to access course material and complete the courses than in a traditional course arrangement. Since most online students are working professionals, care is given to designing assignments, projects and group activities to incorporate student's personal knowledge and experience. Students interact with others in the class as well as faculty through online discussions, email and chat systems. Students are encouraged both online and in person classes to develop a professional portfolio during their educational course of study.

All students, both attending campuses and those completing online degrees or programs have access to a variety of services offered. These include technical support, libraries (physical and online) as well as financial aid services, career support services and tutoring and mentoring options. Staff that work with online students are specially trained to use the eLearning format so they can most effectively interact with students, regardless of where they are located. Emphasis is on developing a network of global learners that can successfully interact and become a part of the artistic group in the college, contributing both online and in person.

Courses offered at Savannah College of Art and Design online eLearning program include broadcasting and motion graphics, interactive design and game development, historic preservation, graphic design and interior design to name just a few. Some of the online courses such as painting do have a residency component, but this is usually offered over the summer for ease of attendance. Courses are offered at the Bachelor, Master as well as certificate level and there also graduate certificate programs available online. In person classes include the topics above as well as additional courses in architecture, teaching, photography, fashion and many more. Continuing education programs are offered both online and at the campuses and the selection of continuing education classes changes to meet the needs of professionals in the area.
