Strayer University has been providing educational degree programs for post secondary students and adults since 1892. This well established and highly regarded university has multiple campuses located in states such as Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Kentucky and Florida to name just a few. Currently Strayer University is one of the largest post secondary and adult education schools in the United States and thousands more students complete online degree programs through Strayer University Online. The school is fully accredited through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education plus it is licensed in all states with a physical campus. Students can complete degree programs from anywhere within the United States or even internationally as major educational institutes in other countries recognize many of the courses.
The instructors are Strayer are all professionals, researches and experts within their individual field of study. All hold at least a Master's degree in their teaching area and many have doctorates and additional professional certifications. This combination of both educational expertise as well as professional, practical and hands on experience means that courses are designed to address the real world situations that students can expect to have to face when entering the workplace. Through interactions with leaders in business and industry, Strayer University is able to keep abreast of trends in the workplace and current research, ensuring that courses are cutting edge.
Online courses offered by Strayer University include undergraduate certificates, undergraduate diplomas, Associate in Arts degrees, Bachelor of Science degrees, Bachelor of Business Administration degrees, Executive Graduate Certificates and Master's degrees. Each degree level can be applied to the next higher degree, building upon current educational knowledge as well as practical experience. Students are encouraged to specialize in one area of interest to major once they reach the associate level and definitely at the Bachelor and Master level. Online courses are taught just like in person courses with discussions, online lectures, course assignments and direct communication between students and faculty through chat system, emails and message boards. Students can also contact faculty by phone during office hours, making online students a true part of the learning community, just like in person students. All faculty that teach online programs are familiar with working in a virtual classroom setting and will use specific techniques and teaching styles that are best suited to asynchronous communication and discussions between student groups and staff. Projects, assignments and exams are graded and feedback is provided very quickly using the online format. Instructors will comment privately to students regarding questions and feedback but will also provide group discussion topics that will be hosted on message boards and forum type virtual environments.
Both on campus and off campus learners can combine the studies to include traditional and online courses and may also be able to apply their work experience or previous courses as transfer credits. Faculty advisors as well as financial staff are available online, though personal appointments or by phone to help in making decisions about student loans, courses as well as the transfer of credits from other accredited universities or colleges.
